Menashe Warshavsky

Name in Hebrew: מנשה ורשבסקי


Menashe Warshavsky was born July 5th, 1932 and made his film debut in the 1974 movie Big Eyes but he is most famous for his role as Benji's father in the Lemon Popsicle movies. First appearing in Lemon Popsicle and starred in a further four sequels, Going Steady, Hot Bubblegum, Private Popsicle and Baby Love.

After making brief appearances in other israeli films, he was expected to play Benji's father again in the eighth movie, Summertime Blues but was unfortunatly too ill to accept the role and it was rumoured that by this time had moved to Germany and was residing in a residential home.

He however returned to the screen in the early 1990's, starring in three films, most notably,
The Last Love of Laura Adler, a film which has received many awards in festivals around the world and describes the ups and downs of life of actors in the Yiddish Theatre.

Following his brief return to the film industry, Menashe later died sometime after. RIP one of the most memorable characters from the popsicle movies.
